Winding down the clock...

This is perhaps one of my better figure studies this year as I felt it captured a good deal of the mood and feel of light in the room that night, on top of decent likeness and anatomy of the subject.

And a couple others done in a life class.

Picking up the pace...

Just a bunch of recent studies. They are what I try keeping up when motivation takes a swan dive...
The young lady in purple was zestfully strumming a string of melodies on her guitar, at one point to the song Chelsea Hotel as the rest of us painted. A little inspiration can go a long way, and it was a welcoming change of pace to an otherwise mundane session.

Trying to sneak in a post before the month ends...done from life, one of my favorite models with the most awesome hair.

Something different

This was painted over a sketch from life. What a head-turning pose! (pun intended).

The model in some way reminds me of the women in Waterhouse's paintings...

Goodbye newsprint

For the last few months I've made the commitment to start drawing on more archival materials, which means getting used to working with different paper surfaces other than my favorite junk paper. It's surprising how much such change could adversely affect one's confidence, yet I am determined to make it work. Slowly but surely, hopefully.
Some mugs and figures from life.
